Luminaire looked at Kestrel with admiration. He was extraordinarily calm and accepting of the fact that Boston had extremely dangerous and unusual beings.

"I see." Was all she said in response. Something about the sky made her feel very uneasy. Even with her infrared vision and night vision, casting any light into the clouds could prove to be hazardous on her sight. The light would just refract off the water crystals and bounce back at her, making it almost useless. With any hope, the sky would clear.

Luminaire flinched as he yelled. He was right of course. She gritted her teeth as she ran after him out onto the street.

Her eyes adjusted again from…

If whatever this creature was had the medics and police scared into silence, it definitely didn’t hold good news.

Luminaire couldn’t imagine having her city wrecked and falling apart right in front of her. She jumped to the sky after Kestrel with a heavy heart.

"What could this creature be?" She asked in disbelief as they flew over burning rubble and scorched buildings. She shook her head and put on a burst of speed, flying next to Kestrel.

Luminaire sighed in relief. She floated above the car wreckage and created two bright lights in her hands, using them to try and catch the attention of the police and EMT’s.

Flashlights zeroed in on her and the medics began making their way towards them. Luminaire touched down to the ground and whirled around, inspecting the car, then the woman. “She’s extremely lucky.” She commented, inspecting the head injury.

"However, I don’t think we’re as lucky to have to deal with whatever made those." Luminaire shuddered in fear as she gestured the claw marks.

Luminaire flinched as he yelled. He was right of course. She gritted her teeth as she ran after him out onto the street.

Her eyes adjusted again from night vision to infrared as he asked her to find survivors. “There are people huddled in the alley across the street as well as about 50 yards to the left behind a vehicle.” She pointed in the directions. “They seem relatively uninjured and not in need of immediate medical attention.”

Out of the corner of her eye she saw a different heat signature. She gasped, “There’s someone trapped in this car!” Times like these she wished she had super strength as she ran to the car and attempted to move it.

Luminaire followed closely behind Kestrel, looking left and right as they made their way up the cement ramp.

An SUV came barreling at them. Kestrel grabbed a hold of it and tossed it back. The damn thing exploded, sending fire and debris. Out of instinct, Luminaire raised her hands and created a protective barrier. Light emitted from her hands, enveloping Kestrel and herself.

She took a deep breath and squinted open her eyes to see Kestrel’s wings opened and shielding her. “Thanks.” She then nodded and shook out her limbs, “Now that I got the pregame jitters out of the way, we can get to work!” She grinned.

Layla resisted the urge to clap her hands together and act a bit childish, instead she nodded, “Yes. I’ve been to Boston before.” She dug in her pocket for her small white mask and placed it over her eyes. She blinked a few times, adjusting the mask then smiled at Tyler giving him the thumbs up.

Eager, was a good word for her. Eagerness could get you killed in this job, so it was up to Tyler to keep an eye on the new girl. He passed her a small smile, typed in the coordinates for the local Boston Zeta tube, and the beam roared to life, engulfing them both. They reappeared again in Boston, in a large delivery truck inside and underground parking lot. Kestrel pushed open the double doors and climbed out, holding them open for Luminaire.

Luminaire hopped out of the truck and instantly let her eyes adjust the the darkness of the underground lot. Her pupils dilated and her own version of night vision activated. “Where do we start?” She turned to Kestrel with a raise of a brow.
